Gajda
The Macedonian gajda (bagpipe) is a aorophonic instrument.It
consists of four basic parts: gajdarka, borduska, duvalo (blowing
part) the bag, also called stomach or skin.The bagpipes are traditionally
used mostly for playing at fairs, weddings, or other festive occasions.The
repertoire of the bagpipes usually consists of dancing melodies that
are performed at a lively tempo and instrumental improvisations (called
ezgija) can be played in "free" tempo, i.e., rubato. This
instrument is widely used in Macedonia.
Kaval
The
kaval is a very old folk flute from Macedonia.It is an end-blown flute
with eight finger holes. A tone is created by blowing across the sharpened
edge of the mouthpiece. This takes quite a bit of practice to get
the correct embouchure, and makes the instrument very frustrating
for the beginning student.The kavals are played in pair. So they are
divided into categories of male (mashki) and female (zhenski), or
left and right. While one
player plays the main melody, the other one accompanies
Zurla
(Zurna)
The zurla is an aerophonic
instrument
with an oboe-type double reed. The
basic parts include: a funnel-shaped
pipe with eight playing holes (seven in
the front and one on the back of the
pipe), seven sound holes (glasnici),
slavec (beak), and the mednik
(mouthpiece).
The zurlas are always accompanied
with one or two bass drums named
tapan (plural: tapani). This ensemble
is called zurladziska tajfa, and is
often made of members of one family.

used in old folklore songs used to keep rhythm, or as a melody instrument.
Tambura is played solo or in ensemble playing traditional Macedonian
dances and songs.They are created by the Gievski brothrs located in
the Old Skopje Bazaar , and are
a part of an 80 years of tradition pased from a father to a son.Their
instruments are played by the best macedonian folklore artists.
Tapan(By Gievski-Brothers)
A tapan is
a large double-headed frame-drum originating in ancient Macedonia
and the Middle East. It was used in ceremonies in ancient Greece such
as religious festivals, or war marches such as the Macedonian warrior
Alexander the Great's army. It has a deep sound and is made of wood
and cow or goat
skin.
Tambura
This
tambura has 2 pair of strings.It
is characteristic tambura from Macedonia used for playing in Macedonian
folk ensemble to keep rhythm or as a solo instrument.The tambura
is part of the Macedonian folklore music , but his
origin is from old thurkey.It is used bu best Macedonian folklore

Dajre Dajre
is traditional Macedonian instrument used for keeping the rhythm of
the song or the dance It is created from a wooden ring and a strechet
goat skin over the ring.You play dajre by shaking it and hitting it
with your hands
